If you want to find out if a real interface with a true Instrument input will sound better to you, with your guitar, and with your monitoring system, you will have to buy one and perform a back-to-back comparison. It provides an extremely cost-effective ( a nice way of saying "cheap") way to connect a guitar to a computer digitally. The Rocksmith is the guitar pick up equivalent of a cheap USB microphone. If it had a 24 bit converter they would be proud of it and would likely publish the specifications.Īn inexpensive external audio interface would include a 24 bit converter (providing a much larger dynamic range and lower distortion) and those with a proper High-Z instrument input would probably have a better signal to noise ratio. Rocksmith does not publish the converter specs, but it's almost certainly a 16 bit device. It includes a high-impedance instrument input amplifier, a 48kHz analog to digital converter and a USB inteface. It's just a direct cable from your guitar to usb, nothing else. It's in fact is not "direct" in any way. Just listening to your example won't say much about absolute quality of the recording. If you're listening through a cheap pair of headphones or something - you might not see any difference.

You'll get a volume control for a start!īut like I said, you really need half decent monitoring to appreciate what you're doing. Almost certainly a "proper" audio interface will do a better job than this. It would be great if someone has used the audiobox before and could tell me from listening to what i've already recorded if i may see an improvement in quality.

I can listen to it in my headphones from my soundcard relatively latency free if i cut down the buffer size in asio. I get alright sound out of it, but i think it could maybe be beefier, since the cable is not any kind of amp, but then again, neither is the audiobox. It comes with the rocksmith video game, but i just bought the cable.Ī: Ubisoft Rocksmith Real Tone Cable: Video Games It's just a direct cable from your guitar to usb, nothing else. Is there anyway to improve the audio quality of that without buying a new microphone? Thanks!Įdit: I also use the Blue Yeti usb condenser mic.

Is the audiobox right for me? Will i see enough of a difference or should i stick with the cable? Is there another alternative in that price range that would be better? I could fit a soundcard into my pc. I plan to purchase a bass guitar as well, up till now i've been mimicking one with my guitar and pitch controls. Would i see any improvement in audio quality? Latency hasn't really been that much of a problem as i have a pretty beastly cpu, but it could be better. My only concern is that the Audiobox is also usb powered, so i was wondering what more it really brought to the table. I don't have much to spend but i was looking at PreSonus AudioBox USB | I was wondering what improvement i will see, if any, if i bought an audio interface. Here is some of the music i've recorded with it. I recently started recording music and not having much money available i decided to purchase the rocksmith real tone cable and use it to record into fruity loops.
